My Favorite Movie Comedies

December 24th, 2007 by jason

Some of my favorite movie comedies are just compiled of gag after gag and slapstick comedy, but still, I tend to just embrace them. There are the offbeat, little-known movies like Haunted Honeymoon and others that are regarded today as terrible like The Money Pit. My two absolute favorites are National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation and Airplane.

Shit hitting the fan and a burnt up pussy cat top off the best scenes. I mean, who would have the guts to actually have a saying put into live action? A dead cat also makes for fun even though I love cats. With lesser actors, we would probably have just passed these movies over. Let us not forget about those writers and directors also this holiday season.

That brings me to television. In The War of the Roses, Michael Douglas “pisses” on the fish at a dinner party. The televised version has him voiced-over “messing” on the fish. It screws with the artistic integrity of the original intent of the writer and director. Cutting large chunks out of movies also sucks. In Christmas Vacation and most televised movies entire scenes are just cut to fit within time constraints. Therefore, this blogger does not watch movies on TV.

What are some of your favorite comedies?
