I used to me a Microsoft zealot. Now, I let them stab me in the back while they pay my bills. WTF is he talking about? Well, this little podcaster/blogger works full-time developing software using Micro$oft technologies. Hey, it pays the bills. Lately I’ve been in Samsung Blackjack hell… or is that Microsoft Exchange hell? I don’t know!?!?!? That’s what kills me. You have a problem with one of these MS technologies and don’t know where to turn. Do I call the new AT&T (Cingular), Samsung, Microsoft, or my Exchange hosting provider?
I have a special MS Exchange account that I use to get important emails on my phone. Over the last week it has been almost continually asking me for the password to my email account. Of course, I keep it saved and haven’t changed it. It’s one of those random MS glitches that you just can’t track down the source of the chaos.
I’m ready to switch to the iPhone except there is one big problem… NO Garmin GPS . I love having the GPS capabilities on my phone… including the PRELOADED maps. Sure, you can subscribe to some data (internet) based service to give you GPS-like qualities but those services DON’T work out in the BOONDOCKS . No cell service, you don’t know where the fudge you are. At least with my Garmin Mobile 20 for Windows Mobile 5.0 Smartphones (phew), I can find a damned street in Busti, NY… or even Bear Lake, PA.
AND… what the hell is up with the iPhone plans being cheaper than the one I have??? I’m paying $100 per month for 450 minutes plus unlimited data usage. According to Apple , I can get an iPhone plan for $59.99 per month (450 minutes). Now, there is ONE difference between the two plans, ONLY ONE… I get 1,500 SMS messages versus the iPhone plan which gives 200. WHOOP-DEE-DOO. I can live without the extra minutes… but unfortunately, the deal breaker is my Garmin GPS.
I guess my twitter buddy @grace? and I will have to suffer through the Blackjack’s short coming. Sorry, Grace.
